Peter is a non-executive director and a trustee of several charities involved in advancing the Christian faith, education and music.  He previously worked as a corporate lawyer in the City of London and as the Legal Director at HM Treasury. He is the Moderator of the Baptist Union of Great Britain and Church Secretary of the Baptist church he attends in south London. He is married with three adult children and four grandchildren.
